PURPOSE:To measure sintering mixed material at a high accuracy regardless of changes in properties, by irradiating the sintering mixed material with continuous-wavelength infrared rays in a specified wavelength range to determine a water content based on the reflected light from the sintering mixed material. CONSTITUTION:Light radiated from a lamp 1 is focused 1a and the light with the wavelength of 1.94mum to be absorbed by water molecule of sintering mixed material 8 and those with the wavelength of 2.1mum and 2.3mum respectively not to be absorbed by water molecule are made incident alternately via BPFs 3-5 mounted on a rotary plate 2 and a reflecting mirror 9. The reflected light 9a from the material 8 is focused on an optoelectrical transducer 11 via a focusing reflecting mirror 10 and converted into an electrical signal to be obtained as output signal 13 through an amplifier 12. The intensity of absorption wave with the wavelength of 1.9mum varies with a water content of the material 8 whereas the intensity of reference waves with the wavelength of 2.1mum and 2.3mum respectively will not vary with the water content. Thus, the amount of moisture of the material 8 can be learned by comparing the intensities of the absorption wave and the reference waves.
