Binary signal recording system - uses saturation signal recorded prior to binary signal for suppression of previous recording

The recording system allows the signals to be recorded on a magnetisable recording medium (1) which has previously been recorded, by using a saturation signal (62) recorded prior to the binary signals (63), for suppression of the previous recording (61). The saturation signal (62) pref. has a frequency which is outside the frequency range of the modulated binary signal (63). The saturation signal (62) and the binary signal (63) are pref. recorded via two spaced recording heads, with the signals (62, 63) switched in and out at timing points corresp. to the distance between the recording heads along the length of the recording medium. ADVANTAGE - Allows high quality recording without use of special erasure heads.
