The invention describes an ultrasound pulse echo sensor, in the case of which, if static targets are present, the sensitivity of the sensor is reduced at exactly the relevant point on the time axis without the overall sensitivity being adversely affected. The invention in this case makes use of a shift register which operates at a clock rate which is an even-numbered multiple of the clock frequency, the clock rate corresponding to the register number.
