For the cleaning and disinfection of clean-room clothing, disinfecting washing machines with washing liquor guided in circulation are used. Relatively large laundry lint can be filtered out of the circulating washing liquor by means of filtration devices. So that even the smallest suspended particles can be removed from the washing liquor, a filter device, consisting of a very fine filter with or without a pre-filter and connected to a venting device, is used. During the washing operation, a pump (6) drawing off the washing fluid from the tub (1) is employed. The fluid is guided back into the tub (1) by way of a filter device (8) which filters lint and very small suspended particles out of the washing fluid. A venting device prevents the formation of an air cushion in the very fine filter (9). The washing machine and the washing process are suitable for the fabric-protecting treatment of clean-room clothing, the filter device (8) employed being utilised to an optimum degree. IMAGE
