PURPOSE:To provide the title culture method so designed that a static culture medium capable of causing capillarity is held in a liquid tank, and a pot is located on said culture medium, thereby causing growth of hairy roots and ensuring infection-resistant plant to be grown. CONSTITUTION:A static culture medium 6 consisting of a porous block is held in a liquid tank 5. This culture medium is air- and waver-permeable, being placed so that its tip is exposed on the upper part of a culture solution. Roots extended from a planting pot 12 with many holes will further extend into the wetted culture medium 6 through capillarity. An appropriate balance between air and the culture solution in said static culture medium 6 will promote the growth of the hairy roots extending thereinto.
