PURPOSE:To provide a gene having a specific base sequence, coding an inclusion protein of cauliflower mosaic virus and useful for the production of transformed plant resistant to cauliflower mosaic virus. CONSTITUTION:The gene has a sequence of 1569 bases shown by the table (the description of the 232nd base and thereafter is omitted) and codes an inclusion protein of cauliflower mosaic virus (abbreviated as CaMV). The gene can be prepared by inoculating and proliferating CaMV-S to a leaf of turnip, extracting and purifying CaMV.DNA from the CaMV-infected leaf, cutting the obtained CaMV.DNA and subjecting to cloning, etc. A plant resistant to the virus can be prepared by transforming a plant with the obtained gene.
