APPARATUS FOR TIMING SPORTING EVENTSABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREThe apparatus is a motion picture camera including acharge coupled photosensitive device provided with amultiplicity of unit sensors. The sensors are arrangedin a matrix of M rows and N columns. The apparatus isequipped with a pulse generator for controlling thetransfer of charges from sensor to sensor along thecolumns, the frequency of the pulses being adjusted toeffect substantial correspondence between the speed ofcharge transfer and the speed of the image moving overthe device. A shift register is arranged at the end ofthe columns so as to receive in parallel information fromsaid columns and to transmit it in series to an outputcircuit for reconstitution of the image. The apparatusis used for timing sporting events.
