Process for obtaining daunorubicin-hydrochloride from fermentation broths

Daunorubicin hydrochloride is obtained from fermentation broths by extraction, evaporation of the extract and purification of the crude product by chromatography. The chromatography is carried out on a column containing silica gel as adsorbent and with a mixture of chloroform and methanol containing formic acid as eluent.
