Pressurised gas switch mechanism - has non-linear drive coupling between drive rod and piston-cylinder device for arc extinction gas jet

The switch has a drive rod controlling an axially displaced contact (24) cooperating with a stationary contact (19) and coupled to a piston/cylinder device (32,29) for the arc extinction gas jet (31) via a non-linear drive coupling, for pre-compression of the arc extinction gas during the contact separation movement. The drive coupling has a rotary control element (37) coaxial to the drive rod (21) with an angled guide surface (41) cooperating with a drive element (40) attached to the drive rod (21) and a guide slot (37) receiving a follower (35) attached to the piston (32) of the piston/cylinder device (32,29). Pref. the cylinder (29) of the piston/cylinder device (32,29) is attached to the drive rod (21). ADVANTAGE - Eliminates need for intermediate linkage.
