The present addition relates to an improvement to the process for the thermal conversion of methane of the main patent. The improvement consists in adding to the preheated charging gas the effluent from a plasma torch. For a lower thermal pyrolysis level, the selectivity towards ethylene and towards aromatic compounds is increased.
