Method for heat sterilisation of metal objects for single medical use, in particular scalpels, lancets or hypodermic needles, by the effect of an electric current, characterised in that the temperature of the active metal part of the object is raised progressively to red incandescence, and this metal part is for this purpose connected by its two ends to the terminals 2, 3 powered with a suitable electric current which can bring all of this metal part in a single operation and only using ohmic resistance, to a temperature corresponding to red incandescence, without exceeding this temperature, whatever the exposure time, and at least one of the terminals, constituting the front terminal 2, is mounted so as to be movable against the action of a return spring under the thrust exerted by the end of the metal part 5, thus making it possible to adapt the spacing between the terminals 2, 3 to the various lengths of the objects treated.
