PURPOSE:To obtain an ice nucleation activity inhibitor, containing pyrocatechol or specific derivative thereof as an active ingredient, useful as a freezing and frost damage inhibitor for field crops and effective against ice nucleation-active bacteria. CONSTITUTION:An ice nucleation activity inhibitor for ice nucleus active bacteria, containing a compound expressed by the formula (R is OH, halogen, CH3, OCH3, NO2 or CHO; n is 0, 1, 2 or 3) and bivalent copper ions, such as copper sulfate or nitrate, as active ingredients in an amount of 1-99wt.%, preferably 5-80wt.% and capable of deteriorating or inhibiting ice nucleation activity of ice nucleation-active bacteria and controlling or preventing freezing frost damage caused by ice nuclei or freezing of road surfaces, outdoor stairs or outdoor sports courts, etc.
