PURPOSE:To attain an easy examining method adapted to examination of all bottles and examine them inexpensively with a light load, by supporting the center part of the bottom face of a bottle with a convex spherical surface, which is brought into contact with this center part at a point and has a curvature higher than that of the bottom face of the bottle, or a convex curved surface approximating this convex spherical surface and applying a load to the bottle between this surface and a plane plate put on the top face of the bottle. CONSTITUTION:The center part of a bottom face 1a of a bottle 1 is supported with a convex spherical surface 2a, which is brought into contact with this center part at a point and has a curvature higher than that of the bottom face of the bottle, or a convex curved surface approximating this convex spherical face 2a, and a load W is applied to the bottle 1 between this surface and a plane plate 3 put on a top face 1b of the bottle 1, thereby attaining sufficient examination results with a light load. The convex spherical surface 2a supporting the center part of the bottom face 1a is formed on the top face of a bottom plate 2 consisting of, for example, a cloth-ply bakelite material. When this examination is performed together with the squeeze examining method which is powerful for detection of various flaws E, F, G, and H on the body part of the bottle 1 and rotates the bottle 1 while squeezing it, a pressure test sufficient for all of various flaws A-J generated on the bottle; and the vertical loading examining method is performed for the bottle 1 after or before squeeze examination.
