PURPOSE:To measure TOD, TOC and the like at a high accuracy with a better reproducibility without scattering of components to be inspected by attaching a defoaming recovery unit adapted to break foams as generated in an aeration tank during the aeration treatment to be recovered into a sample liquid in the form of liquid. CONSTITUTION:A rotary disc 21 is so arranged horizontal at the upper part of an aeration tank 11 to be rotated at a high speed with a stirring motor 22 through the rotating shaft 23. An aerating gas fed from the direction of the arrow 3 is blown into a sample 16 from a blowing port 12. Foams 17 generated on the surface of the sample liquid are broken into liquid with a rotary disc 21 and then, recovered into the sample 16. This prevents scattering of components to be inspected thereby enabling the measurement of TOD, TOC and the like at a high accuracy with a better reducibility.
