PURPOSE:To improve covering property, workability, resistance to corrosion and compatibility with contents, by applying a coating composition consisting of a bisphenol A type epoxy resin, a specified thermosetting resin and a saturated polyester resin, to the side seam of a welded can, followed by baking. CONSTITUTION:A coating composition consisting of (A) bisphenol A type epoxy resin, (B) thermosetting phenolic resin and/or thermosetting amino resin and (C) unsaturated polyester resin having an average molecular weight of 6,000-20,000 in such proportions that A/B may be 40/60-90/10, (A+B)/B may be 60/40-95/5 by weight, is applied to the side seam of a welded can, followed by baking. The coating improves covering property of a cut end of the side seam, workability in touching up with thick film, corrosion resistance and compatibility with contents.
