PURPOSE:To cancel the leakage magnetic field generated owing to the eddy current produced in the shield plate of an eddy-current-type pulse electromagnet and let the electromagnet operate stably, by annexing a compensating coil to the shield plate. CONSTITUTION:A compensating coil 3 is additionally placed on the shield plate 2 of an eddy-current-type pulse electromagnet 1. A leakage magnetic field 6 having a long time constant is generated with a time lag to the pulse magnetic field 5 generated at a gap 4. An input is applied to the compensating coil 3 added to the shield plate 2, so as to generate the compensating magnetic field 7 with magnetic flux density and a time constant of the same value and with magnetic lines of force having the opposite direction, compared with the leakage magnetic field 6, and the leakage magnetic field 6 and compensating magnetic field 7 cancel each other. Accordingly, it becomes possible to prevent the leakage magnetic field 6 from leaking outside out of the gap 4. And this makes it possible for an X-ray radiation source to operate stably.
