In general, such constructions are manufactured manually by connecting transverse ribs to elongated supporting means by welding. Grate constructions can be manufactured automatically at a single step by means of an extruder known from pipe manufacturing techniques. Chill moulds moving in the production direction are thereby modified in such a manner that the chill moulds comprise at least two moulding spaces communicating with each other by means of conduits.
