An atomizer including two mixing chambers and a puton distributor-cap having directed bores, with which in the first mixing chamber for atomizing medium and fuel at least one fuel jet is directed under an angle preferably under a right angle, on to at least one jet of the atomizing medium and with which the second mixing chamber is delimited on the outflow side by the distributor-cap having preferably the form of a rotational body, characterized in that the first mixing chamber (3) is delimited on the outflow side thereof by a nozzle having preferably like bores (7) and in that the bores (14) of the distributor-cap (9) are such that on the outflow side of the distributor-cap there is with respect to the axis of the distributor-cap an asymmetric distribution of the outlet cross section for the mixture of fuel (5) and atomizing medium (2) generated in the second mixing chamber (8).
