An absorption column having a packing bed and a process for scrubbing out impurities from a gas with the aid of a solvent are described. A gas feedline in the form of at least two upwards-directed pipe ends opens out into the bottom end of the column charged with solvent. The pipe ends project into flue tubes situated above. The gas bubbles ascending in the flow tubes keep the packing in motion and thus prevent sediments in the column (Fig. 1). IMAGE
