The door stop is screwed on the door frame or the steel case. If the pivotable rubber damper is released from the retaining means, the rubber damper comes to bear against the door edge by virtue of the slight helical-spring stressing from the inside; if the door is opened from the inside, the rubber damper slides past the door edge and comes to bear against the door frame or the steel case. If the door is going to slam shut, the inner rebate of the door strikes against the soft rubber damper: consequently, the door lock cannot latch in and the person standing outside is not shut out. When one leaves the flat, one presses the pivotable rubber damper into the retaining means, counter to the helical-spring stressing, and the door lock of the door can latch in and be locked from the outside.
