Caseless ammunition, especially for assault rifles, machine guns and sniper rifles of the same calibre

Virtually all the major armies in the world have used the same ammunition for their rifles and machine guns for about 50 years, from the start of this century. A weaker ammunition was then introduced for assault rifles. Using a propellant charge body (1) of identical dimensions for the caseless ammunition it is possible on the one hand to satisfy the requirement for common ammunition for assault rifles, machine guns and sniper rifles of the same calibre and, on the other hand, to satisfy the different requirements of the different guns with respect to range, hit probability and effect on the target by means of the different design of the hollow cylinder which is enclosed by the propellant-charge body (1), having two or three projectiles (2) in a propelled cage or propelled cup (3), or only one projectile (2). The respectively optimised ammunition for the two other types of gun can thus nevertheless be fired from each of the three different guns. IMAGE
