The screwed pair has a male (4) and a female (2) which fit into a fixed adjacent part (1). The male, usually metallic, is a tight fit in the female, with, say 1 to 20 per cent inference. The female, e.g. a thermoplastic, has a boss (6) from which extend radially two arms (7) with elbows (8). The ends of elbows have bevelled hooks (10) which, when elbows are sprung outwards to enter slots (9) in the fixed part return to hook under surface (13) of the fixed part. The female is thus prevented from rotation and axial movement, allowing precise adjustment of male screw. ADVANTAGE - Maintains accurate setting of adjustment even under vibration. Male part may enter female part from either side.
