PURPOSE:To judge automatically timing of change in the kind of coal and notify the operator of the change and reduce his labor by using the concept of probability distance in the multivariate analysis as a method of judging change in the kind of coal by mutual relation among many variables. CONSTITUTION:An input signal processing section 11 converts the input signals from various detection terminals of a plant into a suitable variate by using the interface processing with the title device and input signals and processes by working on input signals. The data IX outputted from the input signal processing section 11 are inputted to the probability distance calculation section 12 of each group. The probability distance calculation section 12 carries out calculation by IX to obtain the probability distance, Di2 (i=1-N) in N groups, and outputs the value of Di2 (i=1-N) to the judgement section 13 of sample group change. The average matrix mu(i) (i=1-N) and an inverse matrix SIGMA-1 of a variance-covariance matrix for calculation are calculated and prepared before hand by collecting data from a subject plant before the construction of the title device. The judgement section 13 of sample group change is constituted of a judgement section 22 and comparison section 23.
