PURPOSE: To obtain the highly dispersed metal and/or alloy powder by allowing metal salt to react with the hydrides or organic boron compds. of 1 or 2 main groups in a periodic table of elements (PSE) in an inert organic solvent. CONSTITUTION: The hydrogen compds. MHn of metal M of 1 or 2 main groups in PSE are allowed to exist in a solvent. This MHn is reacted with metal salt in an inert organic solvent. Or, the MHn is reacted with NR"4 (BR3 H), NR"4 [BRn (OR')3-n H] [where, R is 1-6C alkyl or Ar -(1-6C) alkyl, R' is 1-6C alkyl, aryl or Ar -(1-6C) alkyl, R" is 1-6C alkyl, aryl, Ar -(1-6C) alkyl or tri-(1-6C) alkyl, and (n) is 0, 1 or 2] and metal salt in an iert organic solvent. Then, the microcrystalline-amorphous metal and/or alloy highly dispersed in the form of powder or a colloid is obtd.
