PURPOSE:To prevent misfire by correcting only the air-fuel ratio feedback correction value of a specific cylinder with a prescribed value for carrying out fuel supply control, and by detecting the supply characteristic error quantity of a fuel supply means for each individual cylinder on the basis of the change of the correction value. CONSTITUTION:A fuel supply rate setting means sets fuel supply rate by correcting the basic fuel supply rate corresponding to the operating condition with a feedback correction value corresponding to the detected air-fuel ratio. And an error detecting fuel supply rate control means drives a specific one cylinder only for a prescribed period of time in the error detecting fuel supply rate determined both by the basic fuel supply rate and by the air-fuel ratio feedback correction value, and comparing with the air-fuel ratio feedback correction factor at the time when the air-fuel ratio has been forcibly shifted, an error quantity detecting means detects and stores the supply characteristic error quantity of the fuel supply means for each individual cylinder, and learns an individual cylinder correction value to correct the individual cylinder fuel supply rate in accordance with the characteristic. Thus, the dispersion of air-fuel ratios between cylinders can be eliminated, and the occurrence of misfire or the like can be prevented.
