PURPOSE:To calculate a surface shape of a molten pool in a short time by inputting leg lengths and the quantity of cladding by welding as parameters in calculating a two-dimensional shape of the molten pool. CONSTITUTION:Both leg lengths L1 and L2 of the molten pool whose shape is to be obtained and the quantity Sd of cladding by welding are inputted. The interpolation positions ic and jc of the leg lengths Llic and L2jc at the near position larger than the leg lengths L1 and L2 are then obtained and further, the interpolation position Kc of the quantity of cladding by welding is also obtained in the same way. The linear interpolation coefficients L1, L2 and dSd are then calculated for i=ic and ic-1, j=jc and jc-1, and K=Kc and Xc-1. Coordinates of the sequence of points are then obtained by the expression by using a contact angle alphak and the radius Roi.j.k of curvature in the data base for each curve with respect to respective eight ways of combinations of i=ic and ic-1, j=jc and jc-1, and K=Kc and Kc-1. Further, these coordinates are changed to equally spaced lines in order to increase interpolation accuracy. This step is repeated eight times corresponding to eight ways of combinations. The coordinates of the sequence of points of n-pieces showing the shape of the molten pool aimed at are obtained lastly from the linear interpolation by the expression.
