METHOD OF TREATING DATA FRAME BY BRIDGE AND BRIDGE

PURPOSE: To provide a bridge, with which a data route can be added to a data frame or removed from it, by forming a corrected data frame while referring to the address table of a system RAM through a system processor. CONSTITUTION: This bridge for exchanging data between a 1st network, which does not require route information inside the data frame, and a 2nd network requiring that information is provided with a packet RAM 6, system processor 9 and system RAM 12 or the like. Frame data inputted through a port 1 or 2 to respective packet buffers 5 and 4 in this RAM 3 are monitored by the processor 9, data are abandoned or corrected data are added while referring to the address table in the RAM 12 and corrected packets are outputted from the port 2 or 1. Because of the bridge with which the data route or the like can be added to this data frame or removed from it, communication is suitably performed between the 1st network, which does not require route information inside the data frame, and the 2nd network requiring that information.
