Clinical chemistry parameters, in particular the concentration of certain substances such as the enzyme GPT, the heparin cofactor AT3 and the blood clotting time factors FVIII and FIX, are determined by measuring the variation of optical density with time using a reader which measures the variation with time of the optical extinction coefficients of ninety-six samples on a microtitration plate. During the measurement, the microtitration plate is held stationary in the reader. Measurement is carried out by transilluminating the samples in the absence of diffuse light. The samples are previously conditioned and maintained with high precision at a constant measurement temperature.
