The retention spring (5) for a disc brake pad (3) consists of two outwardly extending spring arms (7,8) connected to at least one spring coil (10), the latter releasably fixing the spring to a pin (9). The coil and pin dias. are chosen so that, with the spring arms in position against the brake housing, the axial friction force holding the pin is considerably greater than that between the spring arms and their contact surfaces.
