Appts. to work a diamond disc head has an initial grinding disc (21) and a second honing grinding disc (22) to true the head of the diamond dis. The two discs are held on the same support shaft (1) at a given gap from each othe to be selectively in one of two settings, each corresp. to the working position of one of the two discs (21,22). Axial rotary and to and fro-movement in the spindle axis direction are operated by mechanism (12-16, 3,5,7) to give the setting in one of the two working positions. Pref. the mechanism for the oil power drive has a cylindrical sleeve (3) with a ring-shaped projection (4) to slide in an outer cylinder (5) to give a ring zone (6) with connecting openings (7). Drive oil is passed through the openings to give a selective forwards or backwards positioning of the spindle (1) wrt. which disc (21,22) is being used. A further drive oil feed is passed through the openings (7) to control and regulate the axial movement of the spindle (1) and the discs (21,22) in each working position. ADVANTAGE - Single appts. is used for the processing of the head, without a change of unit between the two stages.
