The invention relates to a cardiac prosthesis, as a replacement for a weak natural heart. The prosthesis is implanted in the pericardial cavity. The artificial heart according to the invention comprises an envelope, of bulged external shape, of which a first flat face 11 is used as a face for bearing on the diaphragm, a second bulged face 10 supports the four orifices 5, 6, 7, 8 for connection to the natural blood vessels, and a third bulged face 9 bears on the thorax. The first and second faces 11, 10 form an angle of 70 DEG . Two diaphragm vacuum pumps, each connected to two orifices 5, 6, 7, 8, replace the left and right ventricles of the natural heart, the "left" ventricle pump being positioned on the bearing face 11. The connection is by flexible pipes 44. Application in cardiac surgery. IMAGE
