System and process for optimising the costs associated with the generation and with the yielding of reactive power in an industrial installation connected so as to receive energy from a source of electrical energy and including a plurality of electromechanical rotating machines and electrical loads connected in a network, by creating a model of the network so as to provide an indication of the reactive power, provide an indication of the costs, and provide sets of representations of amended values of reactive power, by determining the lowest cost indication and by providing an indication of the instruction to be carried out on each machine in order to produce or absorb a desired quantity of reactive power.
