PURPOSE:To improve the thermal stability of magnetic properties and also to improve machinability by incorporating specific amounts of one or more elements among Cr, Mo, W, V, Nb, and Ta and other specific elements to an amorphous Co-Zr alloy. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous alloy has a composition consisting of, by atomic ratio, 7-15% Zr, 5-20% of one or more elements among Cr, Mo, W, V, Nb, and Ta, =20% of one or more kinds among the undermentioned groups (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), and (f), and the balance essentially Co. The above groups (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), and (f) consist of =10% Fe, =20% Ni, =10% of Mn and/or Cu, =10% of one or more elements among Ru, Rh, and Pd, =5% of one or more elements among Ti, Hf, Sc, Y, and lanthanides, and 4% of one or more elements among B, P, Be, Al, Si, Ge, and Sn, respectively. This alloy has superior soft-magnetic properties, such as low coercive force and high magnetic permeability, and high wear resistance and can be easily formed into foil-like state.
