PURPOSE:To safely estimate the max. oxygen intake in a short period of time with high reproducibility by calculating the max. oxygen intake in accordance with computation equation with a final load quantity and the max. heart rate as variables. CONSTITUTION:A heartbeat meter 3 is first mounted to the breast part of a person 8 to be tested in order to estimate the max. oxygen intake. An operation to input the age and sex of the person 8 is then carried out with a control panel 2. The target heart rate is computed in accordance with the inputted age and sex in a 1st controller 4. The load quantity is gradually increased by the operation of a load changer 7 based on the control of a 2nd controller 5 in an ergometer 1. When judgment is made in the 1st controller that the exercise heart rate obtd. from the heartbeat meter 3 attains the target heart rate, the load quantity of this time is designated as the final load quantity and the max. oxygen intake is computed in accordance with this final load quantity and the max. hear rate obtd. by the computation. The max. oxygen intake is estimated safely in a short period of time with the high reproducibility by this method.
