PURPOSE:To perform an arithmetic operation between the data stored in the different words with no use of any additional device (hardware) by performing the arithmetic processing between the data stored in a transferer word and a transferer word by repeating the retrieving operations with the transferred data on the transfer word defined as a retrieving subject. CONSTITUTION:A 1st associative memory word 1 is defined as a transferer word and the u-bit data A1 = (a11 - a1u) and the tag bits (0, 0) are stored in a 1st data field 7. Meanwhile a 3rd associative memory word 3 is defined as a transferer word and the u-bit data A2 = (a21 - a2u) are stored in the field 7 together with the tag bits (1, 1) stored in a tag field 11 respectively. Then the tag bits (0, 1) are stored in the field 11 of a 2nd associative memory word 2. Then the full addition processing is carried out between both data A1 and A2, and this processing result S = (s1 - su+1) is stored in a 2nd data field 8 of the transferer word. As a result, an arithmetic operation can be carried out between the data stored in the different words with no use of any additional device.
