PURPOSE:To facilitate the selection of the irradiating direction of side light by forming light guiding means for guiding irradiating light for illumination of a material to be observed to plural systems and constituting these systems in such a manner that light can be selectively guided in these systems. CONSTITUTION:The light guiding means 6 are divided to the four systems 6A to 6D in correspondence to the blocking of a light guiding cap 3. The respective systems are formed respectively of many optical fibers 9. The front ends of the respective optical fibers 9 are arranged annularly at the juncture between an objective means body 2 and the light guiding cap 3 so that the respective optical fibers 9 arranged annularly correspond to the blocks 3A to 3D of the light guiding cap 3 by each system. The side light Lsss is obtd. only from the specific block by operating the light feeding to the light guiding means 6A to 6D corresponding to the blocks 3A to 3D, by which the irradiation directions thereof are unified only to the specified direction. The free selection of the irradiating direction of the side light is possible in this way and the more effective observation is executed.
