PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a KANA-KANJI conversion operation by retrieving an affix word information in a storage means at the time of KANA-KANJI conversion and outputting an independent word to which an affix word obtained as the result of retrieval can be connected and the affix word whose priority order is high as the most preferential candidates. CONSTITUTION:In a KANA-KANJI conversion device converting a KANA character string or a Roman character string into a KANA/KANJI missed character string, an use hyteresis information on the character string is stored in correspondence with plural KANA/KANJI mixed character string, information on the affix word including information showing whether the affix word can be connected or not is stored. At the time of KANA-KANJI conversion, an information on the affix word into the storage means is retrieved and the independent word to which the affix word obtained as the result of retrieval can be connected, and the affix word which is connected to the independent word and whose priority order used in the past is high are preferentially outputted as the conversion candidates.
