This compound is dissolved or dispersed in a volatile solvent to produce a white ink composition. This is applied on a flexible substrate and dried to form a white ink layer. At this time, in the process of volatilizing the volatile solvent, a groove-form rough surface is formed on the ink layer. Writing on the surface by a water pen, a fountain pen, or the like, results in the water content contained in the written ink being penetrated into the white ink layer through the groove-form rough surface by a capillary action.
