PURPOSE:To facilitate the regulation of exciting quantity and exciting timing by first regulating the exciting quantity by use of DC current, and, after its completion, regulating the exciting timing by use of the pulse current of the resulting exciting quantity. CONSTITUTION:An exciting current change-over switch 38 is connected to a DC power source 36 side to excite an inflector 18 by DC, current, electron beams are emitted at a period of 1Hz from an electron generating device 10, and the presence of the incidence to an accumulating ring 22 is detected by an incidence detector 32. When no incidence is detected, it is successively repeated to change the DC current value each time, and when the incidence is detected, the regulation of the exciting quantity is terminated. The exciting current change-over switch 38 is switched to a pulse power source 34 side, the current value of the pulse power source 34 is set to a value providing the regulated exciting quantity. When no incidence is detected, the output pulse timing of the pulse power source 34 is changed each time, and when the incidence is detected, the exciting regulation is terminated. Thus, regulation of exciting quantity and exciting timing can be easily performed.
