PURPOSE:To obtain the subject extract by decomposing boiled soybean soup with a proteinase, subjecting the decomposed liquid to gell-filtration and ion- exchange gel-giltration and separating a fraction having high angiotensinase- inhibiting activity from the product. CONSTITUTION:Boiled soybean soup is hydrolyzed with a proteinase such as trypsin and pepsin and the decomposed liquid is filtered with a filter paper or centrifuged to remove insoluble components. The obtained filtrate is subjected to gel-filtration, ion-exchange gel-filtration, etc., to obtain active fractions. In the above gel-filtration process, etc., the filtrate is fractionated by using an angiotensinase-inhibiting activity as an index to obtain a fraction containing a component having high hypotensive activity. The extract is useful as a remedy or preventive for hypertension.
