APPARATUS FOR GENERATING LEFT-HANDED AND RIGHT-HANDED CIRCULARLY POLARIZED LIGHTS

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled apparatus capable of obtaining left-handed and right-handed circularly polarized lights cyclically, alternately and continuously and usable up to extremely high frequency, by alternately and cyclically supply a large current to a pair of double spiral coils. CONSTITUTION:In an electronic accumulating ring, double spiral coils 2, 3 are provided to a part of a ring shaped vacuum path 7. The double spiral coils 2, 3 are mutually inversely wound and, therefore, a current is alternately supplied to both double spiral coils 2, 3, the axially directed component of a magnetic field is brought to zero and the traversely directed component thereof is spirally rotated on the axis Teb of electron beam by the application of inversely directed currents. When as electron is run along the axis Teb of the coils at a high speed, light is emitted forwardly in the axis direction from the accelerated electron and this axially directed light comes to left handed circularly polarized light when the winding direction of the coil is right and right-handed circularly polarized light when left. Therefore, left-handed and right-handed circularly polarized lights are alternately obtained from an outlet port 10.
