Pigment dispersions, consisting essentially of a) at least one organic or inorganic pigment or a combination thereof, b) at least one saccharide; c) at least one urea compound of the general formula R1R2N-CO-NR3R4, in which R1, R2, R3 and R4 independently of one another represent hydrogen, C1-C5-alkyl or C1-C5-alkylol, d) dispersants customary for the preparation of aqueous pigment dispersions; e) water and f) optionally further customary additives, have a resistance to drying up and resistance to frost which is comparable to or better than conventional solvent-containing, in particular glycol-containing, aqueous pigment dispersions. The pigment dispersions according to the invention are particularly suitable for the pigmentation of aqueous emulsion paints, printing pastes for textile pigment printing, aqueous or aqueous/alcoholic flexographic printing inks, viscose and paper materials.
