The violin (1) is supported on the player's elbow by a leaf spring (5). This is made of resilient material such as steel. A length of about 30cm, adjusted as necessary, results in the weight of the violin, about 650g, being borne entirely by the elbow. One end of the spring can be coupled to a clamp (3) fastened by springs (4) to the waist of the violin. The other end (6) is shown as curved to fit the crook of the elbow. Variations are possible.
