Brush elements are retained by tapered holes in hinged split ring - comprises split rings hinged at one side opposite a retaining clip which are fastened around brush shaft after assembly of radial brush elements
Brush elements have a tapered end which enables them to be held in place, projecting radially from a shaft, by rings. Each ring holds three elements and is split to facilitate assembly. A brush shaft (1) has a number of brush elements (13,14) assembled to it by split rings (2). Each ring has two halves (3,4) which are hinged (5) to allow the ring to be dis-assembled from the shaft by opening up. Diametrically opposite the hinge a shaped location shoulder (7) is provided adjacent to ridges (9) onto which a spring clip (8) can be fastened to retain the two halves. Axial holes (16) are provided through the rings to allow an aligning rod (15) to be inserted through consecutive rings.
