Mechanism which consists essentially of a pedal A and a box B, both made from metal, it being possible for the pedal to be placed close to the driver's feet if he so desires and the box is preferably installed on the outside of the rear part of the vehicle, characterized in that, in a situation of danger, the driver of the vehicle actuates the aforesaid mechanism by depressing the pedal 1 in the direction X, which will exert traction on the steel guide 4 which in turn causes the tie 6 to rotate on its axis towards Y, so as to push the closure pin 7. The displacement of the aforesaid pin will release the closure tongue 8 which is integral with the cover of the box 10 which at the same time ceases to exert pressure on the button of the switch 16. In this stage, the cover of the box 10 exerts a hinging action on the hinges 9 and then occupies the position Y. The electrical circuit thus enters into operation when the box B is opened, allowing the relay 15 to be actuated so that the lamps 14 flash on and off in a rhythm imposed by the relay 15, thereby attracting attention to the signalling panel emitting the request for help 17.
