The present invention relates to a machine for producing binders, folders or the like, consisting of a stiffening sheet and a thinner cover sheet bonded together. The machine comprises first means of feeding a cover sheet to an adhesive spreading roller which faces a bonding roller which is located parallel to the spreading roller and is provided with means of retaining the cover sheet on its surface. Scraper means are interposed between the spreading roller and the bonding roller to detach the cover sheet from the spreading roller and to move it so that its face which is free of adhesive moves on to the bonding roller facing a presser roller which forms, together with the bonding roller, a passage through which the cover sheet and the stiffening sheet pass. The stiffening sheet is caused to pass through the aforesaid passage by second feed means. Along the first feed means there are positioned means of detecting the position of the cover sheet, these means being connected for operation to control means which act on the second feed means to vary the speed of advance of the second feed means relative to the speed of advance of the first feed means, according to the position of the cover sheet, so that the cover sheet and the stiffening sheet reach the aforesaid passage in a controlled position with respect to each other.
