Philas are delivered by conveyor (1) to one end of an Archimedean-screw device (6), breaking the beam between two detectors (5a,5b) wired to a controller (17) of the clutch (16) which, when engaged, causes forward and rearward portions (7,8) of the screw (6) to be driven jointly by a motor (13). The forward portion (7) has limited axial movement and does not rotate with the rearward portion (8) during the first phase. The helical thread has a profile matching that of the phials. ADVANTAGE - Ordered series of phials of any cross-section can be fed safely and without difficulty.
