APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SERVICINGINTERRUPTS UTILIZING A PENDED BUSABSTRACT OF THE INVENTIONApparatus and method for servicing interrupt requestson a pended bus. An interrupt servicing node provides interruptacknowledge messages including destination data specifying aparticular interrupting node at times when the interruptservicing node is ready to service an interrupt request message.The interrupt servicing node includes storage means for speci-fying the identity of a particular interrupting node and forindicating that an interrupt request is pending from a particu-lar interrupting node. An interrupting node provides to thepended bus an interrupt request message including ID data foridentifying the interrupting node as the source of an interruptrequest. The interrupting node detects whether an interruptacknowledge message on the bus includes destination data speci-fying that interrupting node.
