The method comprises the illumination of the painting to be explored by using a powerful light under an appropriate incident angle via a reflection mirror and visualizing the phenomena present in the light reflected by the painting under an angle determined by the adaptor. The device is comprised of a halogen spot light (1) producing slightly divergent light, and a mirror (2) receiving said light beam and reflecting it towards the painting (3) to be explored or a quality photographic reproduction of such painting at an angle (i), so as to visualize the phenomena appearing by detecting the reflected and diffused beams at an appropriate angle (r).
