Prevention and treatment of secondary syndrome of brain nerve cell disorder

PURPOSE:To obtain a preventing and treating agent for after-trouble based on cerebral neurocyte disorder, containing a benzothiazepin derivative as an active ingredient, having improving/protecting action to injury of cerebral neurocyte and having excellent action for preventing necrosis of cerebral neurocyte. CONSTITUTION:A preventing and treating agent containing a benzothiazepin derivative expressed by the formula (R1 to R4 are lower alkyl) or pharmacologically permissible salt, e.g. 2-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-3- acetoxy-5-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-8-chloro-2, 3-dihydro-1, 5-benzothiazepin-4 (5H)-one maleic acid salt as an active ingredient and used as a preventing and treating agent for various aftereffects based on disorder of cerebral neurocyte, e.g. consciousness disorder, motor palsy, allophasis, sensory disturbance, derangement or urinary disturbance. Furthermore, the active ingredient can preferably be administered orally or parenterally in an amount of normally about 0.05-20mg/kg, especially about 0.5-5mg/kg daily.
